Brabant is credited with no fewer than 40 Van Gogh Monuments. Places that have played an important role in Vincent van Gogh’s life.Van Gogh Sites Foundation is dedicated to the preservation of these monuments for future generations.
The 40 Van Gogh Monuments are spread all over the Noord-Brabant region. This clearly shows to what extend Vincent's life was connected with this province.
Overview Van Gogh Monuments
A group of experts, led by an initiative from Van Gogh Brabant and under the direction of the Noordbrabants Museum with support from the Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam, worked on developing criteria for Van Gogh Monuments. The result of this in Brabant is that an inventory has been made of the most valuable examples of Van Gogh heritage, and 40 monuments have been selected.
At the end of 2017, nine communities, three heritage locations, the Province of Noord-Brabant and the Van Gogh Sites Foundation all signed up the Van Gogh Monuments Covenant. By doing so, they are taking on the responsibility as guardians of the Van Gogh Monuments and are contributing to the conservation of this valuable heritage.
